I Corinthians 12:24-27

But God has put the body together.... that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

The "Big" Event

Well. Today wasn't exactly the experience I had in mind for our family.   When we arrived for our ride, there were a lot more people than I had been expecting!  Once everyone was on their horses, we were off and what a group we were.  Most people riding had no experience on horses and there was about ten children under the age of 13.  Amanda was on a paint horse and was thrilled.

Her enthusiasm quickly faded.  As we made our way toward the beach, right off the bat Amanda's horse, Cupid, kicked another horse!  That happened once more before we got to the beach, and even after we were on the beach her horse still would not calm down.  Amanda's horse continued to act up to the point she was truly frightened and in tears.  Now, Amanda is pretty secure in riding horses and for her to be as frightened as she was, I knew she needed to get off the horse.  Plus, the horse wasn't safe for her to ride so I asked them to get her off the horse.  The guide gave Amanda his horse, and for the rest of the ride we watched the guides take turns riding the misbehaving Cupid.  The second horse Amanda was on was a handful as well.  Brandon's horse, Tatonka, was a little stinker as well.  He would hop when Brandon stopped him and acted very skittish in the crowd of horses.  Tom and I both got good horses.  Go figure.  Toward the end of the ride, as we got close to the road that would take us off the beach, the guide had us all stop.  Amanda's horse got so antsy to keep going, that darn horse started to go up the sand dunes!!  I have to tell you, that was the most helpless (and scarey) feeling to know that we couldn't do anything but watch.  The guides didn't seem at all fazed by that.  Oh my word, I can't even begin to tell you how glad I was once Amanda was safely off the horse.

Tonight,  I am worn out from being tense and nervous from the hour we rode horses.  Ridiculous, right?

The tradition continues.  We seem to have a habit of having little "adventures" on our family trips.  So while I am not very surprised at our day (or the weather), I am a little disappointed we couldn't enjoy the day more.  On the bright side, today's events promise it will be a day we will never forget!
Before it all began....
......then off we went!

It was really crazy how thick the fog got.
